💡Did you know that…? “lapis lazuli” literally means “blue stone” in Italian, by the Egyptians it was used in the form of a necklace by the High Priest and to create scarab-shaped seals, also it was used to purify the souls of the deceased (they pulverized it by mixing it with gold and the mixture was laid on the skull). It was considered a sacred stone, a symbol of royalty and divinity. Even in medieval times, lapis lazuli powder was used to create vibrant blue pigments used in paintings and manuscripts.
